Use Your Glow Sticks Safely

The physical construction of glow sticks is very simple with a plastic tube which holds the glass vial along with some chemical solution. But once it starts working, means some chemical reactions are taking place inside the plastic tube which makes them glow. So, while handling the glow sticks we should be aware of the thing that we are holding some chemical substances so that we will make some conscious effort to use them properly. Especially when kids are playing with them they are very anxious to see what is inside it. So keep an eye on your children while they are playing with glow sticks.

Here are few precautions which will help you to prevent any dangers from glow sticks.
  • Never ever try to break or cut the glow stick. If it happens accidentally or incidentally dispose it immediately with out fail.
  • Even though the chemicals inside the glow stick are non-toxic, they produce some mild discomfort when they come in contact with your skin or eyes. So, immediately wash the area which comes in contact with the chemicals.
  • Not only the skin, the chemicals inside the tube and the vial tend to damage some wall paints and can also affect the finishing of the surface. So, avoid spilling of chemicals on the floor.
  • See the label of the product. If it is mentioned that adult supervision is required for smaller ages of kids its better not to give those glow sticks for them.
  • If the chemical substance inside the glow stick is consumed accidentally or unknowingly it is dangerous. Consult the doctor immediately.
  • It is better to dispose the faded glow sticks to avoid further dangers.

These safety measures will help you effectively in avoiding most of the dangers caused by glow sticks.
