Excess Usage of Mobile Harms the Brain Activity: Study

The recent and past studies are saying that, excess usage of mobile causes brain related health problems. Some studies are giving conclusion that the excess usage of mobile phone causes many health problems for the human beings like brain tumors, cancer, and many major problems.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) the cell phone use and brain cancer are related. After a decade long study conducted by the WHO, the WHO says that heavy use of cell phone increases the risk of developing cancerous tumors in the brain. WHO conducted this study by monitoring 1300 mobile phone users over the ten years period.

A study published in the “ Journal Of American Medical Association”, says that the 50 minute cell phone exposure was associated with increased brain glucose metabolism in the region closest to the antenna. This study was conducted between January 1 and December 31, 2009 at a single US laboratory by recruiting 47 people in good health to document the effect of cell phone use on the brain.

The study was conducted using the procedure in which the cell phones were placed next to the left and right ears of the volunteers, while the right side phone in turn on and left side phone turn off. Then the brain scan was taken of these individuals. The scan result showed that the glucose metabolism had increased at the side of the ear which had phone turned on, but there was no effect on the side of the ear where the phone was switched off. Hence the study gives conclusion that the glucose metabolism increases when the phone antenna is near to the brain.
