Understanding Anti Smoking Activities

Nicotine present in the cigarette smoke effects the human body in many negative ways. Addiction to the cigarette causes serious health problems in the person who is smoking. Nicotine induces euphoria, makes the smoker to use it more and leads to nicotine withdrawal syndrome when smoking is stopped. Nicotine can persist in the body up to six to eight hours after smoking. Nicotine affects the mood and performance of an individual. It is the source of addiction to tobacco.


Following are the anti smoking activities that helps to reduce the smoking behavior in an individual:

Chewing Gum:
Chewing a gum decreases the craving for a cigarette, by doing so you can reduce the feelings for smoking. This helps to decrease the smoking behavior in an individual for short time.

Exercise:
One of the best way to reduce the feelings for smoking is a good workout which includes weight lifting, aerobics, jogging and bike riding. This helps in not only decreasing the cravings for nicotine but also helps to release endorphins, which give the body an overall sense of well being.

Music:
Learning to play a musical instrument is another positive way to avoid cigarette smoking. This anti smoking activity helps to improve cognitive functioning and relieve stress.

Games:
Video games often serve to relieve the stress of an individual and they can also be effective as an anti smoking activity. They can also help to improve hand eye coordination as well.

Hobbies:
Keep your self busy with other activities like collecting, fishing, gardening, cooking, reading, golfing, etc. This is an important way to reduce craving for smoking once after quitting from the smoking, as these hobbies keep you busy in the leisure time. Try something that you have always wanted to do but never got a chance to do it.

By following above ways, one can reduce their cravings for smoking.
