Napkin is a rectangular face towel made up of cloth or paper used at the dining table for wiping the mouth while eating. In 1887, John Dickenson introduced paper napkins in the United States at his company’s annual dinner. Paper napkins did not become popular in early stages but today their usage is more than the cloth napkins and they are used by both traditionalists and environmentalists.

Benefits of the Paper Napkins:

  • Paper napkins comes in a wide range of sizes, patterns, and quality and colors.
  • In paper napkins there is an advantage that the hotel owners can print the name and offers of the hotel and can be used as a promotional tool.
  • The paper napkins can be folded in to fancy shapes like the cloth napkins.
  • Another advantage of the paper napkins when compared to cloth napkins is the water used in the production of the paper napkins is less than the water used in the production of cloth napkins.
  • Paper napkins are environmental friendly because green house gases released in the production of these napkins are less than the cloth napkins.
