Fire Retardant Material Used In Clothes

Fire resisting material is designed to resist burning and with stand fire. Fire resistant clothes are generally used by the fire fighters to protect themselves from the flames. They are also used by auto racing drivers to protect themselves if the car catches the fire. It is also important for the hotel owners to use clothes made up of fire retardant material in their hotels because if fire accident occurs in a hotel first material that catches the fire is clothing, which is widely used in hotels and most importantly the clothing helps in spreading the fire.

Different fire retardant materials can be used in clothing and those are given below:
  • Twaron is a heat resistant and strong synthetic fibre developed in the early 1970s and it is the brand name of Teijin Aramid.
  • Nomex is made of nylon and have aromatic backbones which makes them more rigid and more durable.
  • Kevlar has high tensile strength to weight ratio and it is 15 times stronger than steel.
  • Technora is an Aramid that is useful for a variety of applications that require high strength or chemical resistance.
  • Modacrylics are soft, strong, resilient and can be easily dyed, show good press and shape retention. They show more resistance to chemicals and solvents, are not attacked by moths or mildew, and are non allergenic.
  • Polybenzimidazole as a fabric in protective apparel such as firefighter turnout coats and suits, astronaut space suits, high temperature protective gloves, welders apparel, race driver suits, etc.
  • The other fire retardant materials used in clothing includes arselon, coated nylon, pyrovatex FR cotton, etc.
These fire retardant materials are very much necessary in any kind of hotels.
