Construction of Walls for Home Extension

It is important to consider construction of walls for home extensions. Joining new ones to the old wall is primarily seen while extending. The ends of the bricks of the new wall are lined up vertically against the bricks of the old wall. This ensures proper blinding of the join. The main objective of the process is that, it should give a look that the house had been built in first place in that way.

You can make use of damp-proof courses. These are layers of thin materials and are impermeable. They act as barriers to water creeping up the walls. Earlier, slate and some course of special impermeable bricks are used for making damp-proof courses. The courses are made of a bitumen-polymer or polyethylene membrane, now-a-days. To avoid damp problems in extensions, these courses are placed across the bricks of two layers of the wall.

The modern extensions almost include block work for internal wall. It is much cheaper when compared to brick or stone. The block is used at places where it cannot be seen. The block work can be included for the outer wall when it has a sprayed or painted finish.
