Benefits of General Liability Insurance for Events

For organizing a family, business or community events, one has to put lot of efforts in planning to make the occasion both safe and special for everyone. Even though much time and money is spent on planning, unexpected situations can arise, for which the individual might not be prepared. In such situation, a general liability insurance cover will be very useful as it protects the event organizer from the claims made for any bodily injury or damage caused to the property of any of the players, participants, spectators.

It also helps in providing protection against bodily injury and property damage claims arising from:

  • Operations
  • Premises
  • Products and completed operations
  • Advertising
  • Personal injury liability
These are the some events covered by a general liability insurance policy:
  • Animal Shows
  • Arts and Crafts Festivals
  • Auctions
  • Fashion Shows
  • Consumer Shows
  • Conventions
  • Dances
  • Exhibitions
  • Fairs
  • Festivals
  • Fundraisers
  • Graduations
  • Luncheons
  • Marathons
  • Meetings
  • Parties
  • Picnics
  • Receptions
  • Religious
  • Ceremonies
  • Road Races
  • Seminars
  • Sporting Events
  • Weddings
For providing insurance for events there are different rules and regulations in different countries. In USA, U.S. Rotary Club and District Liability Insurance Program provides general liability insurance coverage to active U.S. Rotary clubs and districts for their liability arising out of bodily injury to a third party or damage to a third party’s property, subject to policy terms and conditions.

So an event manager has to consider the premium and coverage of the policy while purchasing a general liability policy. It is better to go for umbrella liability insurance, which provides additional coverage for liabilities not covered in a standard liability insurance policy in case of events.
