Parental Control System in Automobiles

Today as the technology advancing, customer expecting better quality vehicles with reliability, safety and utility features high. At the same time, overcapacity has put pressure on the automobile industry to maintain and reduce vehicle price. The automobile makers are looking for designing vehicles with more comfort and safety. One of the technology developed in the vehicle for safety of the drivers is the parental control system.

How parental control system works
Motor vehicle accidents are getting more common and are resulting more fatalities. Keeping this in mind, automakers have come up with an innovative idea known as parental control system.

It is a 'My key touch system' equipped in the car. It has been developed by Ford. In this system, the vehicle has two ignition keys, the parental key and the kid's key. The parental key is used is also know as administrator’s key. Using this, the administrator can access the setting for safety of their children. By using the parental key, the owner can limit the car's speed, lower the volume of the stereo radio/audio player and sound warning when the seat belt is not worn.

How it works

• Limiting the speed

The owner can limit the top speed of  vehicle 80 mph. Due to this feature, the speed of the vehicle will not exceed 80 mph. Even the owner can set warning beeps go off at 45 mph, 55 mph and 65 mph.

• Restricting car's volume

By accessing the parental key, parents can restrict the volume of the car to 44% of the total volume, so that the driver can hear the horn of another vehicle.

• Continuous alerts to wear seat belt

The car owners can set the future like continuous alerts to wear the seat belt. By setting this feature, if the driver is at 55 mph or 60 mph, it reduces the stereo of the car and continuously alerts until the driver and the front seat passenger wear the seat belt.

• All the features are accessed through the parental key itself. Due to this, the children can change the speed limit or increase the volume, etc.

• This is an innovative way of reducing the number of teenager casualties in roads. This technology can become an effective tool for drivers to restrict teenage drivers and keeping a peace of mind to the parents.

Parents need to take adequate caution when sending their kids on automobiles. Take adequate precautionary measures, you can avoid fatalities.
