Benefits of Conducting Regular Nicotine Test at Workplace

Many companies are conducting employment drug tests to check for drug abused employees. Nicotine test, marijuana test, cocaine test, and others are included in employment drug testing. Smoking tobacco is a very common habit among employees, and this habit is found to be most addictive. This leads to rise in health expenses and productivity losses for organizations. Hence, conducting regular nicotine tests is beneficial for employers.

Secondhand smoke is also found to have chemicals of cigarettes causing cancer. This may also affect non smokers present in the workplace. Hence, health of non smokers can be protected by a regular cotinine test.

Employees habituated to smoking, take breaks frequently for smoking. Lot of time is wasted by them during work hours. This causes loss of productivity. Regular nicotine tests therefore can avoid time waste and smoking of employees in breaks. This in turn helps in increasing individual and overall productivity.

It is the responsibility of employers to ensure safety and health of employees. As nicotine smoking results in many serious health effects, it is better to conduct regular nicotine tests at workplaces.
