Marijuana Explosion of California

Have you ever heard of the Mendocino county of California?

If you are into research about drug abuse or drug crops, you will hear this name as the most famous place for marijuana crops. Here you can find marijuana growing so open, that you can even find them growing in the backyards of houses.

Situated in the Northern California, Mendocino is one of those three places in the famous Emerald triangle. The other places are Humboldt and Trinity counties.

People here are very fond of the famous marijuana crop, and you can find these crops growing in even backyards of the houses. The county is estimated to get about two-thirds of its economy from this crop production.

Who would stop from producing a crop that earns around $1 billion a year, to your place? And who would stop encouraging these people from growing this crop, which earns tens of billions in the international market every year?

Isn’t it just like growing money on trees?

Retailers’ Preparation for the Future with Fewer Inventories

Retailers did not bother about shoddy businesses though they had same situation for years. They kept on investing into their business because they had enough confidence on their consumers shopping continuously. But as the recession strikes the economy, they don’t see any consumer shopping as lavishly as he did in good times. In fact people are even hesitating to shop for general things and are desperate about cutting expenditures to cope up with the recession.

So retailers now had to change their strategies of doing businesses. With the analysts predicting more bad times ahead, they started preparing to face the frugal environment out there.

The major change in the strategy here will be to reduce their inventories, as much and as soon as they can. In order to do that they are selling off their stock desperately at more and more lower rates through discount prices. The present trend is to gain more customer satisfaction than to earn big profits.

There is been an estimation that over 1.4 million people have been arrested under the charges of DUI over the past decade.

What happens when your license has been suspended or revoked when you are convicted in a DUI case? Most probably, you will have to keep away from driving for minimum one year. Moreover, if you cannot afford it, here is a piece of news for you. The Washington State has provided people like you with the new Ignition Interlock License (IIL) program.

Using this opportunity, you can again drive your car, 24 hours without restrictions, though you were convicted on DUI charges.

Rents Decline For First Time in 5 Years

With the increasing unemployment rate and recession, people are not much willing to spend for an expensive apartment. This gradually resulted in plummeting of home rentals all over the country.

According to a study by Reis Inc, the rents of the apartments had declined for the first time in five years. Asking rents fell 0.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008 from the third quarter, to $1,052 on average. The trend is similar with the effective rents (rent actually paid by tenants) as they fell 0.4 percent from previous quarter to $996 on average.

At the same time there has been an increase in vacancy rate. It is estimated that vacancy rates rose to 6.6 percent from 5.7 percent just a year ago.

The unemployment rate is the major reason behind this. According to US bureau of Labor Stats, the number of unemployed citizens increased from 632,000 to 11.1 million, with the start of the recession.

Top Five Law Firms of UK Tighten Grip on M&A Market

These are certainly challenging times going on globally for businesses as well as employees in pink-slipping companies.

But there are some companies which are desperately working to turn these times favorable to their business. The shrinking M&A market in UK has helped top five law firms of UK to tighten their grip on it. But rest of the law firms are struggling to survive in the environment.

According to the statistics from Thomson Reuters, the top five law firms of UK accounted for 67 percent of deal value of the entire transactions. This was just 37.9 percent in the first half on 2007-08.

This rapid increase of the percentage share shows how fast are these big five companies moving in according to the times.
  • Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer remains the top, though the number of deals fell from 64 to 44.
  • Slaughter and May makes it to top 2nd position from the earlier 9th position.
  • Linklaters which use to be in the 2nd position has to satisfy with 4th position this time.
  • Allen & Overy has got up to 3rd position from the previous 4th previously.
  • Cliffor Chance is the fifth of the Big Five, though it has declined from its earlier 3rd position.

A Look at the President's Plans: Obama Plans for 2009 Year

Obama has made a good history as the first black person to be elected to the White House. But will he make a history with his ruling as well. We know politicians make big promises to get into power, but how far they can fulfill them effectively?

Unlike Bush, Obama has many bigger problems to deal with. There is this economic crisis, then the unemployment, Iraq issues, security problems, and the list goes on.

Let’s check about US economy. Present condition is very worse and poses a big challenge. They have already $700billion allocated fro the task. But would the amount be enough?

Reducing insurance costs was one of the agendas of the Obama. However, will he be able to win against insurance companies, doctors, and pharmaceutical companies?

US is the highest pollution source of the world. Obama has this major thing in front of him and he will have to compel his own people to use less fuel.

Bush has left a big mess for Obama with Afghan and Iraq issues. Obama was also one of the persons who opposed this. Now what will he do?

Let’s wish him all the very best so that he can do right decisions and live up to the expectations of his people (who voted him).

December Brings A Relief For Auto Industry

What did the Santa Claus brought for you this Christmas? I have been waiting for him since the previous Christmas, but had not seen him anywhere any time. Not even his presents have reached me.

But Santa was kind enough for Auto Industry.

December was a big relief for sinking Auto industry in the severe recession and crisis. When the big bigger companies of the industry were ready to break, we can just imagine the situation with poor small companies and their investment of non-selling stocks.

When compared with overall year, the numbers were very worst to compare. But December auto sales were better by around 20% compared to the sales in November.

This sends good signs to the industry and brings a big relief to them as they were ready to leave the battle field with a battered fate.

Let’s wish that the New Year brings some more good chances for them to survive at least because I don’t want to sell my new car as an antique piece.

Celebrating New Year - Why and Why Not

First of every January is very auspicious to the entire world because it pushes us into another fantastic year. It reminds us that Earth has completed a full revolution around the Sun. It reminds you what you have done the previous year and what it was meant to you. And most of all, it brings a great occasion on getting the entire world celebrate and party with you. I bet you will never get such a big company for your celebrations usually.

There are people in world who say they don’t celebrate New Year and some say they have a reason on why they celebrate it. It goes like this…

Why no to celebrate New Year? Because it makes us older by one more year. It forces us to spend more amid recession. People litter 25% more compared to other days. Our company has to release yearly results and those are poor and so on.

Why to celebrate? To welcome another year in our life. We are older by one more year. It’s a holiday. Goodbye to worst year of my life. To spend money. New calendar!

And so on.
